Based on deviations, the internal parameters of the instrument are modified to adjust the measurement data to qualified. The manufacturer can issue an internal measurement and inspection report, but cannot issue an authoritative "calibration certificate".

    Send the instrument to the National Institute of Metrology for calibration. The institute can issue an authoritative "calibration certificate" that displays the error between the instrument's test value and the standard. If the instrument has an error, the institute cannot adjust it back to the standard data.
